Controller, Asia Pacific (APAC)

The Controller, Asia Pacific (APAC) is the key financial reporting and audit authority, and together with the Compliance team, ensures the overall accuracy, timeliness and completeness of the financial information provided by Acumed's APAC distributors. The Controller, APAC audits the adherence of distributor's financial and other data reporting processes to Acumed's finance and accounting principles, practices, policies, procedures, and internal controls.  Partners directly with the US Acumed Accounting and Compliance teams.


  • Determines APAC distributor audit scope and annual audit/ risk management plan.
  • Performs full APAC distributor audit cycle including risk management assessment, internal controls effectiveness, substantive auditing to determine financial reliability and compliance to regulations and Acumed's finance and accounting principles, practices, policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Obtains, analyzing and evaluating accounting and finance data, documentation and reports.
  • Reviews monthly detail of distributor's financial results.
  • Establishes strong relationships with distributors and Acumed team and serves as the accounting and financial reporting resource in the APAC region.
  • Ensures strong internal controls around accounting, financial, operational and business processes are maintained by APAC distributors.
  • Coordinates with external auditors to support of periodic reviews.
  • Works with Regulatory and Compliance to ensure requirements are met as it relates to accounting and finance matters.
  • Works closely with Business Services and Sales to address any distributor controls.
  • Regularly audits the Acumed financial and control systems in the APAC region, scrutinizes financial activities and details.
  • Maintains current knowledge for organizational policies and procedures, regulatory policies and directives, and current controls standards.


  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, OR Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a CPA or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting or internal audit position (including internal audit experience) with a focus in manufacturing, product development, sales, and marketing environments.
  • Knowledge of internal audit and internal controls.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems/business enterprise system; SAP preferred.
  • Experience in dealing with audits including internal and external financial and regulatory audits.
  • Experience in managing international subsidiaries.
  • Knowledge of local region regulations.
  • Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to read, understand and complete all required documentation.
  • Ability to read and speak Mandarin Chinese sufficiently to read, understand and complete all required documentation.
  • Ability to read and speak non-English languages such as Japanese preferred.
  • Proven ability to effectively and positively interact cross-functionally.
