Sales Training Manager

The Sales Training Manager develops and delivers training to Sales Reps, Agents, and other field sales personnel to increase sales and market penetration, develop selling acumen, and increase product knowledge. Responsibilities include developing, creating and delivering content for training classes, lectures, and online delivery in an effort to improve the selling knowledge and skills of sales representatives. In addition, the Sales Trainer works collaboratively with other Medical Education and training team personnel, Field Sales, Sales Management, Marketing, and others to assess the need for training and create and execute training tactics to address identified needs.


  • Plans, creates and delivers sales training to field sales organization focused on increasing product placement and selling skills. Develops curriculum which meets learning objectives.
  • Conducts basic/intermediate/advanced sales rep training, regional sales rep training, and Acumed eLearning.
  • Assesses training needs through observation, sales staff performance and behavior, surveys, interviews, and consultation with managers; collaborates with sales leadership to develop plans to address these needs.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in planning and executing training by delivering training solutions on time and under budget.
  • Develops methods to evaluate and measure training effectiveness related to benchmarks and learning objectives; provides metrics for management review.
  • Analyzes and assesses sales training effectiveness and recommend revisions, enhancements, or new programs to continuously improve training offerings. Develops alternate methods if expected improvements are not realized.
  • Maintains Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) related to conducting and/or participating in sales training events. 


  • Bachelors of Science in Business, Education, Marketing, or related field required
  • Minimum 3 years successful sales experience in Medical Device or healthcare, orthopedics experience preferred
  • One-2 years of experience as a field trainer or regional trainer
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering training, knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design and the measurement of training effects
  • Demonstrated experience identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or helping them to improve their knowledge or skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication/presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency with computers including the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Power Point, Word, Excel)
  • Demonstrated ability to developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish objectives
  • Solid understanding of Acumed products and their surgical applications preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time
  • Demonstrated understanding of global healthcare policies, trends, and compliance issues
