Job Overview:
The Metrology Technician performs CMM Inspections including set-up, programming and operation.  Responsible for programming, measuring, process sheets and training on parts measured on the CMM. Responsible for training of In-house calibration duties. Ensure that mechanical and analytical measuring equipment meets industry standards.


  • Program, set-up and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines per Acumed and customer standards
  • Write programs for CMM based on parts and specification drawings (Mitutoyo CMM, and Micro view vision/CMM system for automated part verification)
  •  Analyze and report CMM results and communicate findings
  • Coordinate the in-process inspection planning and communicate results to production for adjustments to ensure in-process quality control
  • Maintain and update quality system documentation, such as work instructions, procedures, in process inspection information, and other related documentation
  • Oversee and perform In-house calibration of various measuring instruments including calibrating instruments and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Conduct training on CMM and other metrology equipment
  • Perform inspections of products to determine conformance to all specifications
  • Lead activities which identify and reduce non-value-added processes (Apply Lean Concepts)
  • Keep machines and work area clean and organized at all times, general maintenance of machines as needed
  • Other duties as assigned


  •  High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two or more years CMM programming experience, experience with Mitutoyo CMM preferred
  • 3+ years of experience working on a manufacturing team with machinists and engineers
  • Understanding of ISO and FDA regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of machining processes and procedures
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical tolerance and GD&T
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of Quality concepts and Quality Control tools
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, gage pins, optical comparators, and other inspection equipment
  • Prior experience calibrating and troubleshooting Starrett comparators highly preferred
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications related to manufactured products
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities
  • Proficient with MS Office, ability to create and document test reports and use Excel to perform statistical analysis
  • Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to read work instructions, specifications and procedures and complete all paperwork
