Quality Assurance Technician

The Quality Assurance Technician 3 (QAT) inspects material, products, and processes. In addition, they improve systems and processes, inspection methods and inspection standards to ensure all products meet requirements. Documents out of specification situations by initiating nonconformance reports (NCMRs); performs cursory investigation of the situation and dispositions the NCMRs as needed. Participates in product development as a representative of Quality to ensure quality planning throughout the development process. Responsibilities include performing in depth inspection of evaluation run and pilot run products, and training other QA Technicians and periodically auditing their work.


Day Shift, Mon-Thurs 4:30am - 3:00pm*, (Post Covid 5:00am-3:30pm) - Cornelius Pass Plate Cell

General Duties/Responsibilities
• All types and stages of inspection defined in Mechanical Inspector position.
• Perform first article dimensional and documentation inspections.
• Audit In-process records, receiving inspection documentation, final inspection documentation, and other quality or manufacturing data for accuracy and completeness.
• Evaluate inspection processes for improvement using standard problem solving and improvement techniques (i.e. Redundant inspections, improved techniques and instructions)
• Actively participate in Manufacturing Cell teams as a Quality representative by addressing quality-related issues per documented processes.
• Accurately enter information into manufacturing data gathering system (i.e. E-Traveler, QSI, Visual).
• Maintain and update Quality system documentation, such as work instructions, procedures, in-process inspection information, and other related documentation (IPI's).
• Address and follow-up on quality-related issues between departments (i.e. Manufacturing Engineers, Design, Quality Engineers, Planning, Manufacturing)
• Demonstrate an understanding of final acceptance activities related to SOP-0012 and Sop-0013.
• Create Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMR's) as needed, per SOP-0016.
• Participate in MRB (Dispositions – NCMR)
• Maintain calibration of gages and integrity of calibration system by accurately entering information (Gage Trak).
• Track the status of receiving inspections (FIFO, Visual Indicators)
• Train new-hires, operators, and temporary/contract workers on quality processes and techniques.
• Identify and reduce non-value-added processes (Apply Lean Concepts).
• Other job-related duties as assigned.

• Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to read work instructions, specifications and procedures and complete all paperwork.
• Ability to use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, gage pins, optical comparators, and other inspection equipment.
• Ability to read and understand engineering blueprints and specifications related to manufactured products.
• Basic knowledge of Quality concepts and Quality Control Tools.
• Knowledge and ability to use standard problem-solving techniques.
• Basic knowledge of machining processes.
• Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• High level of self-motivation. Able and willing to seek out opportunities, and to ask questions as needed.
• Proficiency with MS Office required (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook)
