Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Programmer 1

The CMM Programmer I coordinates the operation and programming of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) used for inspecting parts.  S/he measures part dimensions, completes process sheets, and other forms as required. The CMM Programmer provides inspection feedback to Product Development Teams and Manufacturing personnel. Additionally assists Metrology Technicians in the calibration of gages requiring CMM support.


  1. Performs set-up and operation of CMM to inspect parts for conformance to applicable standards.
  2. Writes programs for CMM-based inspection on parts and specification drawings (Renishaw Modus software, Nikon CMM Manager).
  3. Coordinates in-process inspection planning and communicate results to production for adjustments to maintain quality control.
  4. Oversees and perform in-house calibration of various measuring instruments; troubleshoot to resolve issues as needed.
  5. Maintains work area cleanliness and organization at all times.
  6. Performs general maintenance of machines as required.
  7. Other duties as assigned.


  1. One or more years CMM programming experience
  2. In absence of previous CMM experience, 5+ years of manufacturing, quality, or inspection experience
  3. Experience with SolidWorks, Creo, or other CAD modeling software.
  4. Advanced knowledge of machining processes and procedures
  5. Advanced knowledge of mechanical tolerance and GD&T
  6. Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities
  7. Ability to work well under pressure and to competing deadlines while maintaining a cooperative working relationship with other employees and team lead
  8. Ability to work in a highly detailed environment where mental focus and accuracy of work output is essential.
  9. Assist in addressing and resolving production problems as it relates to inspection technique
  10. Experience working in a regulated environment. Familiarity with ISO Standards 9001, 13485
  11. Proficient with MS Office, ability to create and document test reports and use Excel to perform statistical analysis
  12. Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to read work instructions, specifications, and procedures and complete all paperwork.
